The Edit of My Revision Is My Friend

The moment I meet loneliness on the corner of darkness and despair, ------18
Is the moment that my shadow begins to permeate the air. --------17
It whispers to me, beckoning with it's call, tempting with it's reason -------18
Bringing forth it's anguish, It yearns to consume me, and commit treason.-----17

I know I must face it, Without pretense or excuse. ----------13
The silly lies and charades, No longer of use. -------12
And when I take off this Mask, It withers and Dies, -------12
I realize that part of me went with it, And it too, met Demise.--------16
And In the places where Fear and doubt lie, I lay to bed, ---------14
Dreaming of my perfection, Where angels fear to tread. -----------13
For perfection is tomorrow, It will never see today. ----------15
And it does indeed reside where fear and doubt lay. --------12
This is my battle, against the lurid part of I, -----------13
And with the sword of my heart, and the shield of my soul, I'll fight till I die. ------18

I revisited one of the first poems I posted on here. This is usually the one I end up editing when I'm sorting through my poems. Still missing something...Like frosting. A more even syllable count would be nice too.
