Jack and Jim

Now jack and Jim
Are two very different people
They’re each of their own kind
One is full of hot aspirations
And the other, a sickening sense of reality

Jim has got to get his priorities straight
And Jack just needs a new girl
And what these two don’t know about eachother
Is that they’re meant to be

Now Jim has got a reliable job
Down at the old factory
And Jack is waiting outside in his car
Hoping to god she is pretty

And what these two don’t know about eachother
Is that they’re meant to be
Jack has had enough of his date
And Jim is off of work
Both had had a long and tiring day
Even though they weren’t the same

Jim gets home to his drunk and sad mother
And Jack is all alone.
He waits for a phone call or two
Just to see if he gets to go
Just to see if he gets to go
To Sarah’s hot and poppin’ party
He thinks he’ll see Jim there
And what these two don’t know about eachother
Is that they’re meant to be
Jim has already had a few drinks
By the time he gets to Sarah’s house

And Jack had been hitting on that chick
With the cool butterfly tattoo
But once Jim walks into the building
Jacks heart has skipped a beat or two

He doesn't understand why this is happening
And excuses himself to the bathroom
Jim has walked into Sarah’s best friend
The one with the cool tattoo

He asks her if she knows where the beers are
And she said she wants one too
She said she wanted one too

Jack has been staring the mirror
Contemplating his feelings for Jim
He knows that it is very weird
To want to kiss your best friend
He needed to kiss his best friend

Jim and miss butterfly tattoo
Have had just one to many
And by the end of that crazy night
They end up in the same bed
But Jim can’t seem to find his inspiration
And Blames it on the drinks
He lays down in the cool bed
Wondering what Jack is up too

Jack has settled himself out on the balcony
Thinking about how he’ll explain
His feelings for his best friend
And a tear comes down his left cheek

Jim has gotten himself off the bed
Leaving tattoo behind
He looks around for his best friend
He can’t seem to find his best friend

And what these two don’t know about eachother
Is that they’re meant to be
Yeah one day these two will be
Jack has stopped himself from crying
Just as Jim walks out

He wipes his eyes and hopes Jim doesn't notice
That his cheeks are burning red

And sadly Jim has noticed
He asked his friend what was up
And shyly stares at the shining moon
Jack can’t seem to open his mouth
And form the right words

Jim can tell this is getting weird
So he breaks the proverbial ice
He asked him if he drank too much

Jack looks straight into Jim's eyes
And tells him
“I really need you”
Jim can’t really voice out the emotion
That is going on in his head
In his head and his heart
And so to clarify things they finally knew what it was
They finally knew how to be
They didn't let go for a while
So 30 years have passed
Maybe 40 I don’t know
Two best friends are sitting next to eachother
One is made of stone
And the other is all alone.
