Love is a Disease of the Heart.

You pulled at my heart strings,
Pushed and pulled me to sway,
Kicked my legs from beneath me,
So I’d beg you to stay.

Never made it alone,
Not sure enough to be free,
A puppet looking for my master,
When you came across me.

Turned my lights off in the dark,
Shook the ground beneath my feet,
You killed off my senses,
So I was bound to your defeat.

I clung to you like a baby to its bearer,
Followed you on the path to disrepair,
You unravelled the ties that held me to others,
And chained me in your lair.

My heart I wore around my sleeve,
You turned into a bomb,
Stopped the ache, my loneliness,
But now I can’t move on.

Glazed-over eyes don’t disguise the lies,
Only highlight the soul laid to rest,
When pink fades to grey, it’s too late to retrieve,
The memories you were made to suppress.

Broken down, too late to run,
You’ll fester in this hell,
For once your caught and reeled in,
Your heart and mind dispel.

This feeling is a poison,
A muffler to others pleas,
A blindfold to the wreckage,
A destructive, damned disease.
