A Muse

As artist relating to his Mother
A Psychotic episode taking over
Compulsive behavior unrelenting
Angry outbursts venting.
That's the Poetic Burden
Stripping away family and friends
Eating up finances
Meant for food & rent
A ‘thing, more important than life
Seldom compatible of man or wife.
An alien thing searching the streets
For unknown names
Tempting them with possibilities
Of acquiring fame.
This, a'musing, thing
Is that, which keeps us alive.

Author notes:
ref: Carl Jung, writing on the creative person, suggests that the need for creative expression
is somehow indicative of a psychological nuerosis & in need of therapy.

"Perhaps no person can be a poet, or can even enjoy poetry, without a certain unsoundness of mind."
~Thomas Babington Macaulay

To give a ‘Label, such as ( schizophrenic ) a negative connotation ( i.e.) mental illness, insane, etc. Is to negate the free expression of natural diversity. How sad and bland if we all fit the mold, of some other persons evaluation of normal & acceptable.
