Fallen

Falling in love is
A beautiful mess of
Contradictions

Because when you touch me
I get a rush of warmth in my chest
And chills down my back

Because I want to curl up against you
And lie there peacefully for hours
But I want to move with you
And against you
And my hands never want to rest as they move along
Your shoulders
And hands
And hair
And sides

Because I want to tell you everything that you make me feel
But I want to not have to explain
Because I want to think that you understand
Because you feel the same way

Falling in love is
The most dangerous thing that I’ve ever done
But also comes with a sense of security

Because “are you sure?”
Was not meant to doubt you
But myself
And the ease of a response
Was beautifully shocking to feel
Not breaking through my throat
But unlocking and proceeding

Because I fall for you over and over
With every “I love you”
Because as long as it’s sincere
It never loses its power
And I have not been insincere
And have no reason to believe that you have been either

Falling in love
Truly does equate to
Falling

Because my shields break down
When you move closer
And my breathing relaxes
When you hold me
My eyes close and my jaw drops
And somehow both the sky and the ground
Seem a little more
Distant
When we kiss

Because the air is louder in my ears
And my senses are heightened
But I am unaware of the ground
Through the burn of adrenaline

Because clarity makes an appearance
As things begin to blur
And loving you is a leap of faith
That doesn’t fail
And it is the greatest manner of which I’ve ever
Fallen
