Hero of the Holocaust

Once upon a sad sad day
When the sun refused to shine
A young girl could not go out to play
The Germans had crossed the line

Her best friend was being sent away
For her family was Jewish
Their family just could not stay
And they could not even take a dish

“Why does it matter what her religion is?”
The girl asked her parent
Barely listening her parent says
“She is your friend, that is what's important.”

She kept going to school
Wondering how her dear friend fares
Her family decided to break a rule
They would be one of few who cares

Walking skeletons arrived by night
Milk and bread is what they need
Somehow everything will end alright
Yet only some souls they can feed

Then one night a friend arrived
Asking a large favor of all
Two young men they need to hide
One so short and the other real tall

So in the barn they hid the two
The girl had to run to and fro'
Since food they had such a few
Their patients were running low

The poor two boys sat there
With nothing ever to do
Even with the good care
The ceiling dripped watery poo.

Then the girl had a wonderful idea
To her neighbor she'd go and get a book
She hoped when it returned it wouldn't smell like diarrhea
So more and more books she took

Finally bombs rained from the sky
The end was closing in upon them
If from these bombs they did not die
Her happiness would be condemned
Fives years later she moved to the U.S.
Free from all of her horrid secret
The rest it up to you to guess
The Holocaust she will never forget
