Childhood Fears

You know that monster under your bed?
He's coming out tonight.
Your parents say he's in your head,
But that won't stop the fright.
The moon is a face watching you sleep,
The shadows are coming alive.
Your dreams are contorted and so deep,
There's no way you'll ever survive.
The wardrobe door is just slightly open,
The darkness beyond is infinite.
In one small glance you're completely awoken,
And now in the darkness you're vigilant.
An echoing voice that quivers and shakes,
your hair is standing on end,
A heart beat so fast it surely does ache,
In this haunting land of pretend.

I was thinking back on my childhood fears and i thought it would make a good poem.
