Childhood

I miss those days….
When our minds were filled with innocence, just thinking of the moment,
Just the right here and the right now.
Playing pretend,
A doctor healing a patient,
A cook or baker making delicious delicacies
Having all sorts of adventure, playing spies, pretending to be heroes and heroines
We had fun
There was nothing better to do than that
And we enjoyed it
Not virtual games, not cool, up to date devices, not Facebook, not twitter, not phones or computers
We were just kids that enjoyed the life, the nature God gave

I miss those summer days
When we’d run and play, throwing the old ball around
When we’d play hide and seek, play tag and chase each other with bright, carefree smiles
Running around under the sun, laying down on the ground and watching the stars
Nothing was more beautiful then
not compared to those twinkling, bright stars above our heads as we talked and giggled together
To me nothing was.
Just enjoying the moment as it was…..
A time to enjoy
A time to be happy….
A time to be kids
Before reality gave us a loud wakeup call….
Before we had to give all that up….
And grow up.
Tell me; did we really have to give it up…?

I miss those cold, rainy months.
Splashing around in puddles and running around in the rain
It was fun, better than being stuck indoors
And even then
It was great
Watching movies as we cuddled into our blankets and eating our snacks
Drawing what we wanted to be
I drew about being a writer,
You drew about being a teacher.
Remember when we couldn’t wait to grow up….?
If only we knew then;
….. We’d have had cherished those days more…
The days where we could have been children
Playing around without a care in the world;
Only childish smiles on our faces
The picture of innocence and what children looked like
I don’t know where I’m going with this….
But I have to say….
I miss those days….
I miss the days of our childhood.
I truly do.
