Not That Day

Mother's are suppose to be strong,
but not that day,
no not at all.
The day the phone rang,
The day she answered cheerfully,
the day she hung up crying.
I ask her what's wrong,
but she only replied with tears.
I gave her a loving hug,
her sobs filling my ears.
She pulls from me for a moment,
"Your great-grandmother just died."
We hug again,
our tears coming together as one.
Mother's are suppose to be strong,
but not that day,
no not at all.
