Innocence

You know when you see a flower in the middle of an open meadow. It looks as if it has never been touched by the filthy hands of man. You get the feeling that maybe not everything is all that bad.

Have you ever seen a child?
Have you watched the way they play?
Big smiles on their faces as they run around playing Cowboys and Indians or Fairy Princess.
They way everyone is your best friend and you don't know hurtful words like loser or freak.
When they look up at you with their big round eyes and a cute humungous smile. All crooked teeth and gaps.
They ask you what your name is after they tell you there's.
Before you know it you too are running around playing.
Then you realize the feeling that you feel.

Like you are a young naive child again,
You know no bad, no evil, no hurt, no pain
You see no curl words or see curl things.
For one moment this big bad world is more bigger then it was but is no longer filled with any bad.

You are a blank paper with nothing on it.
No crinkles, no tears, or any thing.
The only thing it does have on it is dreams and wonders.

Your dark ally self is now filled with a thousand bright lights.
A thousand bright children.
The demons in your head are all gone.
Because the children don't believe in them.
And in that clear moment,
you feel pure,
like you.

I wrote this for an writing class. The point of the assignment was to write a paragraph about a word you were given and then when you read it aloud to the class they have to think about what your word is. My teacher said mine was the best one out of the class.
