Silent Screams

Lilly was a little girl, floating in her mother's womb.
Her mother was 16 years old, and thus was entirely too soon.
She went to the clinic and requested it done
and the doctor comes in without a thought as to whom.

Lilly matches her heart with her mother's, nothing but love in her soul.
She smiles, in the dark. The smile of the ignorant.
Meanwhile the doctor cleans up first...the body bag is full.
Tiny, mangled bodies float in the blood of the spent.

Lilly's mother feels a kick, but is annoyed by the miracle inside her.
To her this is just a chore, like going to the supermarket, which she'd prefer.
The doctor puts on his gloves and Lilly's mother lies down,
reminded of the lust by which she was foolishly lured.

The doctor inserts the clamps, and Lilly starts to scream.
A silent, inhuman cry that only the heartless would ignore.
The doctor pauses a moment, and mutters "Damn thing."
Lilly swims away from the Nazi-esque tool, but can't move away much more.

Lilly's cries are cut off as the clamp presses down.
Her head is removed, while way across town
the police are drinking coffee and reading the papers.
Silent screams aren't heard, hearts are not felt.

Lilly's tiny body is stuffed into a plastic bag.
God's beautiful creation is thrown away like garbage.
The mother gets up, the doctor washes his hands,
and another one gets ready to murder.

Tiny hands, clenched in fear,
toothless mouths scream for help.

They call it an "abortion", but is it really so?
For Lilly was a girl, and how do we not know
that she wouldn't have become the first woman president?
Or cured cancer?

Now we never will know...
