Lover's Last Night

They laid in each others arms that night,
Cold air grazing their skin.
They let go of their hate and all the fights,
But then her father walked in.
He tore them apart in the blink of an eye,
His daughter's lover fled.
But before he could utter a convincing lie,
The father put a gun to his head.
He threatened and hollered above the cries,
His daughter begged for mercy.
He shook his head at the abondent lies,
And continued his angry cursing.
Two last screams into the darkened sky,
Followed the gun's only shot.
His daughter ran to her love screaming why,
She was alone, he's all she's got.
Blood soaked hands gripped the girls shoulders,
But she franticly shook them away.
All she needed was for her love to hold her,
But she's been alone since that day.
