Walk Away

You walk the path of words unspoken
and I trail behind trying
To form a sentence
of all the syllables,
the hints
That you keep dropping
So excuse me if I fail to notice
Your departure
I just can’t look forward, you see

I keep looking back
To where you once used to be
I look back hoping you’ll return
To where I thought you loved to be
Now I guess you found some place warmer
No where close to me, no where near

I’m counting back to ‘our’ days
I’m fighting back tears
So please just let me go
I’m trying to get away,
Away from the spell you’ve put me under

I watched your grip tighten, your smile lighten
As you walked away from me
So hold her close and never let go
Because there’s no returning home to me

Your hand fell out of mine
Slowly losing each others touch
And as your finger grazed mine
That final time
You gripped onto her, you walked away
Your warm eyes never looked
In my direction ever again
