After a Nightmare

You wake up to long windows
And to skin all tattered and torn.
You don’t like being locked away
In hospitals at dawn.
And you chase after a doctor
Whose help is hard to find.
You lose him and you yell
Because you haven’t got the time.
You know your mind is breaking
When you return to your silent room
Because the voices you are hearing
Are not there this afternoon.
You lie down to stare at the ceiling
And relinquish to your doom.
