Black/White

The black girl had a black heart,
and loathing from which she never did part,
her eyes were black and she had little grace,
they would greet every man with disdain and distaste.
Her world was black and never light,
no friends to count on in a fight.

The girl grew up and and thought this would never end,
her cold hearted parents and fair weather friends,
her heart felt all weird and fuzzy inside,
a fact she was sick of having to side.

Little did she know in a different world,
there was person whose soul had also been whirled.

The white boy had a white heart,
it was filled with good and love and art,
his eyes were white and he had a beautiful face,
that the neighbours liked and the girls loved to chase.
His world was white and never dark,
his friends had arrows but love was their only mark.

The white boy grew up and he found,
feelings of resentment simmering underground,
a fact that made his heart pound.

On their separate paths the two became well travelled,
leaving their worlds all ravelled,
when the two had by chance did meet during a game of scrabble.

They got along well and became good friends,
and pretty soon their partnership extends.

On the 13th of May the couple did marry,
ceremony on a beach in Old Canary,
for the two had found their other half,
the one who brings out a side they knew not of.

A couple years later no longer young and wild the two decided to have a child,
it was just as light as it was dark and its eyes were grey and spirit wild,
new meaning was brought to their worlds as both of them could see,
this child lived in light and dark, it had brought night and day.

As time went on more people saw the world did sorely need,
a bit of black and a bit of white as it meant their races freed.
