The Battle (That Seeks No Victory)

The Battle That Seeks No Victory
I see a light and she’s so bright.
She waves from high up above me.
But I’m falling backwards and,
I see a darkness; and hes bristling.

Its a slow fall; shes taunting me.
She’s motioning for me to come home,
But there’s a hold at my throat,
And hes pushing me down, down, down.

I want to fight but i have no control.
I want to scream and thrash and beg,
But the Darkness has my heart and soul.
I’m forgetting the light and her kindness.

Now she’s just a reminder; no help.
I hear his laughter as she fades away -
It mixes with the whispers of weeping.
I’m still falling, but I no longer need saving.

The light has gone away; she’s dead again.
Still falling back, back, into an endless ending.
He knows that I am his for the taking.
So he steals my joy and gives me his misery.

nd I’m left alone; he’s released me.
Stuck in neither light nor darkness -
Its a mix of grey and everlasting pattern.
Because when color returns and light reawakens,

He will come again.
