Photoshopped Dreams

On my desk in my cubicle
Sits a little wooden picture frame
Of some Caribbean island or another.
When work is stressful, I look at it
And I allow it to take me to another place
Where desks and deadlines and paperwork
Are foreign words that don't translate into their language.
And hanging on the wall of my "office,"
Is a calendar that glorifies my favorite star.
I look at him when I'm angsty
And he calms me down.
My computer background
Is a mountain in Asia
That, supposedly, is the hardest to climb
Which only makes me want to climb it more.
I look at it when I'm not sure if I can finish a task.

Then I go home, and everything there is real.
There are no pictures to take me home
Because I'm already home.
This is as good as it gets.
I open my laptop and I go to Photoshop
And I put my picture in every place I want to be,
In the arms of every lover I want to have
And doing all the things I want to do
Because I know I'll never go, or have, or do
Those things

Except in my Photoshopped dreams.
