A Shredding of Anatomy

I took apart my heart last night
Fiber by fiber, tearing and shredding the mortal tissues
I could no longer stand to hear its inept rhythm
Faulty, unbidden heartbeat of an insecure girl
But the wasted muscle, it painted my life in shades of salmon pink
So I tore out my corroded veins too
And watched the scarlet splatter into a morbid sunrise
The teeth of a corpse smiled from behind my closed lips
I cried with glee for a final parting kiss
From Death as she wound her cold pale bones through my hair
