The World on the Other Side

I feel most alone falling asleep.
Isn't it in dreams you find peace?
It's somewhere foreign to me,
where white sheets hang and cascade,
mammas are calling to thier babes
and you're coming back home to me.
You've got a smile on your lips
as your arms extend like wings.
You could hold anything, anyone
but you want to hold onto me.
It's warm but the trees are shedding
and golden leaves float around on
an invisible roller coaster in the air.
It's raining but it's not too cold and
it doesn't dampen the hanging sheets.
We kiss and decide that here is
as good a place as any to make love.
I wonder what horror I had to commit
to be apart of something so beautiful.
There must be a balance, I am told
and I guess that's why I always wake.
