Butterfly, Butterfly in The Garden

Poem- Butterfly, Butterfly in the Garden:

Red. Black. Blue. Pink. Orange. Green.

'How many colours do I bear like a fruit?
That's your riddle for the day.'
Said the peacock butterfly to the boy who played a flute,
But he simply shook his head nay.

'A riddle Mr.Butterfly, do you bring?
My advice is ask all birds that twitter and which sing,
Found in the language of innocence,
Pure and strong.'

'What, little boy?
The birds' song?
No, no, no, That's where simply you are wrong.
Provide a sensible answer to the question that I ask,
Do not hide behind unknowing and your flute- silver mask.'

'Very well, you ask of me',
spoke the boy,
'Don't you see?
For you are every colour there ever has been,
And no colour there ever will be.'
