"7th Avenue"

Standing out here
It all seems so clear
Life is surreal
On 7th Avenue

The memories are uptaking
My heart starts its shaking
We had the happiest of stories
On 7th Avenue

It was my second home
Upon where I would go
'Cause inside meant the most
On 7th Avenue

I loved to see you all
Come, walk down this hall
To where you'll see beyond those walls
On 7th Avenue

I could never really leave it
All those mixtures of feelings
The twelve months we had seeing
On 7th Avenue

This is one of my favorite poems I've written. It has a powerful and memorable meaning for me. The name "7th Avenue" itself was taken from the year my aunt and cousins lived in my town, on 7th Avenue. After those twelve months of living in her home state, they moved back to California; where my aunt had been living for the last 13 years.
