Forever Gone

I stand there so silently
A tear glides down my cheek
I’ve been missing you so endlessly
It’s not even been a week

I lay a flower down on you
My fingers brush your chest
Folding my note I lay it too
Something to read during eternal rest

Thinking of how life isn’t fair
I let out a low sigh
God takes the people who really care
I just don’t understand why

Looking at the ground
I wipe a tear away
Slowly I turn around
Knowing I’ll forever remember this day
