I Need Another Petal

I pick a pretty flower
With petals on its crown
But as it says, "He loves you not"
My smile turns into a frown
For the flowers never lie
For Mother Nature chooses
She gets to pick the winner
And also he who loses
As a tear slips from my eye
A butterfly lands near
Its wings are a mosaic
And it whispers in my ear
It says, "Do not despair"
And kisses the bare flower
Right before my very eyes
My heart soars like a tower
For one more petal has been grown
And I shout, "He does love me!"
Cheers echo from all of the trees
And in the sky I see
A simple little butterfly
With wings of orange and brown
The colors of my true love
And a smile replaces my frown
