October Air

I breathe in deep
The cold October air
The familiar feeling in my lungs
The familiar cold in my chest

Reminds me November is near
That very month
Those cold days
Are soon to appear

I breathe in again
The rush of cold bites my skin
It stings my eyes
Yet I love it so.

The coldness rushes through my body
Leaves my hands numb
I tremble
As the cold leaves me struck dumb.

Suddenly I remember
I remember
That time
The month of November

The chill
The cold
The ice
Begin to unfold

As I breathe in the cold
I place my hands in my pockets
Seeking warmth
To escape the freeze

I take one last breath of the cold
A deep deep breath
Filling my lungs once more
I then breath out and close the door.
