The Pressure to Be Perfect

In today's society, there are many types of pressure.
But one in particular stands undefeated.
The pressure to be perfect.
It can get anyone.
It's like a lurking disease.
You know it's there, but you're unsure of where.
Therefore, you never know when it's gone, until it's captured you.
It usually strikes young females.
But it also overpowers young homosexuals.
They're the ones who are most insecure about themselves.
That's why it gets them first.
They're already not sure how to fit in.
Is my hair the right style?
Are my clothes the right brand?
Is my taste in music right?
Is my body size too big?
Too small?
All of these are questions people ask themselves.
When they've been hit with...
The pressure to be perfect.
It's a very overwhelming feeling, when you don't think you fit it.
It makes you want to change everything about yourself.
Everything that makes you unique.
You'll purge to make yourself thinner.
Thin enough for society.
You'll get plastic surgery to be in the running.
And when that's not enough, you'll cut.
You'll slice up every part of your body, because you feel you're not good enough for anyone.
You'll bleed, and you'll cry, and you'll scream.
Wondering why they don't like you.
You'll do drugs, just to get away from everyday stress.
You'll crave that high, addicted now.
You'll drink for the same reasons.
To feel at ease, while feeling worthless.
"Nobody wants you, why don't you go kill yourself?"
Is a line you'll hear.
Some of you will fight back.
Some of you will get help.
But others, well, you'll listen.
You'll let them put you down to the point you can't take it, and you'll kill yourself.
All because you didn't feel worth anything.
That's...
The pressure to be perfect.
But listen to me.
Listen very closely to what I'm going to tell you.
You are worth it!
You are beautiful!
You are spontaneous!
You are unique!
And most importantly, you are who you are!
You are gorgeous, inside and out, and nobody can take that away from you.
So don't go get into trouble because of some haters.
You're better than them in every way possible.
So bask in your glory, and enjoy your life, knowing the pressure to be perfect can no longer taint your judgement.
