Their Unrequited Love

A king and his queen prospered in their kingdom.
But one day, the queen grew ill.
The king promised to find a cure
But she died and the search for the cure was nill.

Several years later, reincarnation took place.
The queen had taken the form of a fair maiden.
Finding her king dead, she swallowed a deadly toxin;
And to her death bed she was laden.

In Heaven, the queen was shunned; for suicide is a sin.
So she took it upon herself to roam the universe.
What she found was her love, the king, but a mere man he was not.
And her questions, they did not disperse.

Curiosity gripping her and holding her in its death-like grasp;
She asked her king if it was right to have taken her life.
His answer was no and for good reason;
Said he, "I understand, for you are my wife."

Struck in the heart with such love and fierce dedication,
She took his hand and kissed his cheek.
Awestruck stood he, with love swimming in his eyes.
From then on, their lives were never bleak.
