Guilt

Hold your breath
Neck up straight
Tell yourself it's for the best
End the steady sound

Boots unzipped
Placed on the floor
A prized shiny silver object
The only shine in the dark

Time never moves
Your palms are shaking
As you twist the knob and pull

Point and fire
At that sleeping lump
Who will breathe no more

The steady breathing slows
Sigh of relief
Finally at rest

As you begin to turn your back
The breathing pounds in your ears
Heart pounding
Blood pumping
You can never escape
The guilt
Eating you from the inside out
