Imprisonment

They keep asking me why I’m the one trapped in this room
Where their legitimate prisoner is
They don’t have mirrors up in the corners, it seems
Now the handcuffs dig into my bones

Melted skin grips holy halos
And their eyes meet my home
Understanding is hard from understatements made
Lost along the way as I collect my lies

Where does the circle begin?
I swear I mostly think I didn’t mean to
The end burns memories on the skin of new beginnings
We don’t recoil from our standing pride

My heart is override with fire
Draw new shapes of cloudy skies
They never agree to release me
And I never realize restraints are loose
