Sea Legs

There are echoes of you in the crooks of my
elbows

Last tuesday, you kissed me so hard you
knocked the wind from my lungs

I was so dizzy and out of breath I saw the
electricity spark behind my eyes

You taught me how to dance, but I was clumsy,
always tripping over my feet

But you laughed like it was nothing, and the
sun spilled in the window, draping over your hands

You had the grace of a gentleman but the
mouth of a sailor

And I haven't gotten any sea legs, I apologize,
but I'd sail around the world for you

I just need to know that these seconds I
spend with you aren't a waste

I don't want to be a part of your
list of mistakes

I don't want you to be a part of mine
