More Than a Cut

You say you cut to let out the hurt,
But as the knife touches your skin you forget your worth,
You let the red seep away onto the floor,
To let your wrists become swollen and sore,
Every line you say represents a day you wanted to die,
And with every line you don’t realize there’s someone here that cries,
They cry for you, because they don’t want you gone,
They want you here, to live on,
Every slit to you represents your pain,
Every slit to us represents every time you forgot our name,
You don’t take away the pain, you just create sores,
The knife doesn’t want you because we need you more,
Every cut is deeper to us than to you,
Because when we see that it feels like there’s nothing we can do,
it hurts much more seeing your wrists,
Every scar on you is like our fresh slits,
I’ll always try to be there for you so don’t hesitate to call,
I’ll always try to be those strong pair of arms to pull you up when you fall,
I’ll always be there to support you like a crutch,
I’m here for you because I love and need you so much.
