Through the Glass

I sat smiling staring at the sky,
so much time has seemed to pass since you said goodbye.
I didn't get an explanantion, a text, there was no note,
I tried to keep you from drowning, I tried keeping you afloat.
But one day you didn't show up, you weren't in any class,
I looked out all the windows, I peered through every glass.
I didn't know what to think, you never did come home,
I started to be afraid, you were out there all alone.
The light soon dimmed, everything became as night,
You were laid out by the stream, your soul had taken flight.
I never meant to find you there, your body was so cold,
That night you kissed the sky, your soul was made of gold.
I wished that you would come back, so I could hold you when your down,
When you became far too weak, I would catch you before you hit the ground.
I never meant to cause you harm, if I ever did,
I didn't want you to be afraid, your feelings you always hid.
