Lily Lands

Breath fluttering
like pale butterflies,
born from her
deeply dreaming eyes,

she's running away
from something cold,
from a life too real
to a world bathed in gold

like eternally rising suns
in a setting mind,
painted with the brilliant colors
reality couldn't find.

Hair flying in the wind,
feet bare in the field,
life limited to the dreams
her small heart may yield,

she's racing through clouds
and leaping through smoke
which glistens like stained glass
hiding wisps of the fair folk,

and she's hunting for kings
at the bottoms of lakes,
climbing her great mountains
with all the bravery it takes,

sitting all alone
in her lily lands,
a world of adventures
for her little hands,

and she's free like the breeze
as she soars through the skies,
laughter like diamonds
beneath her closed eyes.

So I'm just curious... exactly what do you think this poem's about? There was a minor debate with a friend. :)
