She's So Broken

She's so pretty,
With her pure smile,
That makes her eyes sparkle,
Like precious jewels.

Never once,
Has anyone seen her smile falter,
Or her eyes dim from sadness.

They say,
She's never been hurt,
Never been mistreated,
Never cried.

Oh, what such lies,
She's been there before,
Time and time again,
As she laid her heart on the line.

Only to have her spirit crushed,
Over and over again,
Just for the sake of love and trust.

Oh, she's so broken,
Though the world will never see.
She hides her true emotions so well,
That she has even begun to fool herself.

Oh, how that mask has grown,
Only to swallow her almost completely now.

You'll never see such a truly broken soul like her ever again,
She's the real deal,
A truly broken soul,
With a heart of gold,
That's been shattered so many times.

She smiles, even when she truly wants to cry.
She laughs, even though she really wants to scream.
She'll act like she's not dying inside, even though it's a lie.
She'll be herself, even as what remains of her heart is incasing itself in ice.
She'll love, even though she is scared that the past will repeat itself.
And she'll stand tall, even though she's about to break.

She's so broken, and yet no one will ever know...
