Summer Rain

Everything was fine, and the winds blew
my mind was clear and euphoria rose up in my chest
my eyes lit up and the only water on my face was the cool summer rain

No tears were cried but my smile was shining,
it was shining brighter than the sun that hid its insecurities behind a gray cloud
The trees rustle and talk to me
their whispers, so comforting

The childrens laughter dies out as they're called in to wait out the rain
but there I stand in the middle of the street
the invisible crowds that surround me
i turned to run, gravel under my feet
and the euphoria turns to ash and burns my heart
then I am left in the dark

Breathe, just breathe

the thunder stops, but the pain stays
and my smile returns in the cool summer haze
and the demons that tried to get me ran away
and now I'm at peace standing in the summer rain
