Another Flower
I draw another flower
Pointed towards the sun
The petals mark each hour
Until my life is done
I listen to my heart beat
And beg the petals to fall
But the sun provides the heat
The flower blossoms the plant grows tall
I beg for the gardener
To come and sheer my plant
But the sun has got a partner
And so the gardener can't
This is all symbolic noise
About how life is in the way
They say life is one big choice
So why must I stay
Let the flower reject the sun
And the gardener sheer the plant
Let the flower's fight be done
Let no one say she can't
Pointed towards the sun
The petals mark each hour
Until my life is done
I listen to my heart beat
And beg the petals to fall
But the sun provides the heat
The flower blossoms the plant grows tall
I beg for the gardener
To come and sheer my plant
But the sun has got a partner
And so the gardener can't
This is all symbolic noise
About how life is in the way
They say life is one big choice
So why must I stay
Let the flower reject the sun
And the gardener sheer the plant
Let the flower's fight be done
Let no one say she can't

This poem was written while I was in a psych hospital after a major depressive episode. I like it because it explains how I was feeling at that very moment. I wanted everything to be over, but there were too many people standing in my way.
