"Beautiful Too"

You’ll never know the pain hidden between these lines
And you’ll never know the suffering trapped in these rhymes.
All I wanted was to be noticed by you,
But you couldn't see that I’m beautiful too.
If you were a star, you’d be out of reach.
A moment in time that can’t be seen.
You’re an emotion I’ll never be able to feel
An unknowing thief; my heart’s yours to steal.
Hope springs from the fiery fountains of eternal youth
And even a blind man can see the ugly truth.
So why can’t a guy like me ever get close to you?
Is it because you can’t see that I’m beautiful too?
Glass shatters and wood splinters
The bite of frost kills in the dead of winter.
My heart is the drum in this sickening death march’s tune
I've been beaten dry, though I’m beautiful too.
Your beauty’s like lightning, it’s bright but it burns
And it seems unfair that while I’m hurting the world continues to turn.
A heart of gold with feet of clay,
I play the part of a fool to hide a warrior’s pain.
I wish there were some way to drop a hint or give you a clue,
But, alas, it seems you’ll never notice that I’m beautiful too.
