Downpour

Marble drops. Tears.
It's been raining for days, weeks,
An eternity of sullen vapour.
Sparkling pavements and street lamps
Surrounded in a halo of falling mist

It's on the news-
Floods that go on for days, weeks.
The sky smudged brown over the horizon,
Children crying with the backdrop of lakes.

Water-stones that catch in hair,
on cheeks. People talk for days.
A depression, they say, but it's hard to tell what
In the atmosphere or rain-soaked hearts
