Such a Lovely Sight
Dark skies loom overhead
I know I should have stayed in bed
I tried to ignore what my mother said:
"Darling, please, don't lose your head."
Stars shine brightly up high
The excitement I feel lights up my eyes
I'd almost forgotten the life of night
Oh, how I missed such a lovely sight
A skip in my step
A hop to no beat
It's actually enough
To forget the pain in my feet
The crickets sing
My ears ring
And for a second that's fleeting
I almost forget I'm not breathing
"Bubble, bubble, bubble," the creek calls
"Plip, plop, plip," rain starts to fall
I'd almost forgotten the life of night
Oh, how I will miss such a lovely sight
I know I should have stayed in bed
I tried to ignore what my mother said:
"Darling, please, don't lose your head."
Stars shine brightly up high
The excitement I feel lights up my eyes
I'd almost forgotten the life of night
Oh, how I missed such a lovely sight
A skip in my step
A hop to no beat
It's actually enough
To forget the pain in my feet
The crickets sing
My ears ring
And for a second that's fleeting
I almost forget I'm not breathing
"Bubble, bubble, bubble," the creek calls
"Plip, plop, plip," rain starts to fall
I'd almost forgotten the life of night
Oh, how I will miss such a lovely sight
