Hollow Bones

water drips from the tips of your hair
your sweater's damp, why don't you go inside?
i can hear you breathing in the air
your eyes are glistening underneath the moonlight
is this where you'd rather reside?

you've got hollow bones and cheeks hued red
my smoke is whisping around your face, dancing in the wind
"don't talk to much," is what you said
"enjoy the rain, breathe in the distress"
i just smiled softly to assure you this isn't the end

yet

let me in on some of your dreams
you're sitting next to the hearth, your hands wrapped around a mug
you stir in the sugar, lift it up to your lips, swallow and,"you forgot to add cream"
apologies and more coffee drowns out the sorrows of our love
the only thing i know to do is to proceed things with a hug

you've got hollow bones and cheeks hued red
my smoke is whisping around your face, dancing in the wind
"don't talk to much," is what you said
"enjoy the rain, breathe in the distress"
i just smiled softly to assure you this isn't the end

yet

it's funny how the roles are switched
you're a boy and i'm a girl, and i'm making you coffee
and you're lying in bed underneath the quilts that i stitched
but it's okay because you're dying and you're ill
and i love you enough to just lye next to you, feeding myself sweet toffee
