Forgotten Stars

When behind the mountains the sun finally falls
That's when the darkness dominates the land
But even the night brings a light's bright calls
So silent in the sky they seem offhand
But a brighter light comes from the city
It devours the stars barbarically
overshadowing their divinity
Leaving them alone to twinkle weakly
The city lights are so busy and bright
Not many have stopped to think of the stars
They were the lights to bring us all delight
But who could see in the city of ours
So the darkness covers the sky tonight
But the Forgotten Lights stay out of sight

I was assigned in my Language Arts class to write a Shakespearean sonnet, so I did just that. It honestly turned out better than I thought, and I'm super proud of it! In a way, it's a meaning behind my pen name for Mibba. I marvel at the stars whenever I see them in the mountains, and I'm saddened when I can't see them at home. It's also a bummer how sometimes people just forget about how beautiful the stars are, thus I dubbed them "The Forgotten Lights".
