Home Is Where the Heart Is

Home is where the heart is, right?
So then why does is feel like my heart's taken off on a flight.
It's been gone since the beginning of day light,
Maybe I'll find it come midnight.

In the darkest hours, that's where it seems to show it's beat.
I'd rather it be out during the summer, in the middle of the heat.
Who says it's the best to play, fool around and just get laid?
Part of me wishes that you just have stayed.

The feeling since you've been gone has been nothing but troubles and now I'm seeing you in doubles.
You're everything that I want, everything I see,
Haven't you noticed, you're the one who completes me?

It's cooler out now, it's beginning to feel a lot like fall.
You remember that time period right? When we had it all.
Sweaters and boots are perfect for the weather,
And maybe, just to know you're still with me, I'll see that tiny white feather.

As days go by, the sun ends sooner, the nights feel longer.
Winter's on it's way, and without you, it feels like it's here to stay.
I just wish you were still here, to brighten up my dark, cloudy day.

Oh look, kids swinging, my heart's singing.
Spring's here, and you're still just "there" and it doesn't seem to be all that fair.
Maybe when you come back, we can be that perfect pair.

It's been about a year, and every once in awhile I still tear.
Don't you dare, you know I still care.
How couldn't I? You give me that feeling like when a toddler gets a new bear.
All fuzzy and warm inside, you and me were meant to be tied.
