My Guardian Angel

Your arms shielded me from danger,
Your chest allowed my tears to fall,
Your hands kept me from wandering,
And your eyes read my every thought.

They say I was attached to you,
A smile would grace my face they said,
And your eyes would sparkle with every say.

But I had to leave, and you departed from here,
Alone, I stood staring vacantly,
The darkness consumed me,
And I was lost within it.

You haunted my dreams,
I couldn’t speak,
I couldn’t hear,
I couldn’t live.

I recovered, slowly but surely,
I smiled, and little by little,
I began to laugh with my heart,
But I never forgot you.

We met again 5 years ago,
I wasn’t the little girl you remembered,
I changed, but I was reassured,
You never forgot me.

You watch over me now,
Protect me from baneful decisions,
Guide me in the right directions,
And never leave me alone.

I’m not secluded anymore,
I laugh, I smile, but I don’t cry,
Not for you anymore,
For it is your wish.

I only desire I could see you,
To know if you’re proud of me,
I miss you, but I’ll get by,
Thank you, my guardian angel.
