The Red Flower Inside You

It was October, but not really cold,
my heart wasn't really feeling bold.
Like always, I entered the house,
hoping the cat would finally catch the mouse.

You were sleeping with your head to the side,
like there were no rules for you to abide.
Always sitting on that old chair,
waking you up didn't seem fair.

Then I saw the blood on the floor
and to think I had just opened the door.
Icy cold was your smiling face,
you became another unsolved case.

The red flower had bloomed in you,
and you knew that too.
We really had to say goodbye,
our hearts that moment had to lie.

Again and again, I thought it was some kind of a dream,
but more like a trailer from a movie the scene before me made it seem.
I strongly wished for my nightmare to end,
I really had my heart to defend.

This poem was inspired by the anime ''Zetsuen no Tempest'', and especially from the scene where Mahiro sees his sister, Aika, dead siting on a chair. It's his feelings of seeing his not by blood related sister, dead. Through the whole anime that image spoke to me in a way and I just had to write this piece. Also, the red flower that bloomed inside her symbolizes the blood on her clothes and how Mahiro realized she was dead by the sight of blood and the coldness of her skin when he went to touch her. I really like this creation of mine and I hope you like it too.
