Lost Soulmate

In your presence the horizon of the sea sends
palettes of red, gold tropical tints across the sky,
the smell of the salty breeze blowing gently from the
aqua blue water, envelopes me in the warmth of safety

I hear the silence of the waves softly hissing,
brushing ashore, as I gaze out at the cluster
of tall and lonely palm trees outlined by the dust
luminous lunar cycle of the beautiful moonlight

In your absence the sun neither rises nor sets,
roses and pastels are without their alluring fragrance,
the sea has changed from shades of blue to gray;
the salty breeze of the sea lost its smell of saltiness

As I have lost you, I’ve lost myself, I, a part of me,
the anguish felt so intense I’m consumed by darkness,
sullen and in mourning, within the light fails to shine,
intense heartache and pain ails me day and night

As you travel the span of distance and time, so shall I,
as the pulse of your heart ceases to beat so shall mine,
so, when death beckons at your door, so shall it mine;
life or death I shall always be with you soul mate of mine
