The Man in My Dreams
I awoke leaning against the roots of a decomposing tree
to the sounds of nocturnal creatures singing my name
clouds kissed the ground where rotted leaves lay
the fog was so thick I could barely see three feet ahead of me
the moon illuminated through branches of the leafless trees
and a nervous rush crawled down my spine like spiders
the leafs crunched under my feet with every step I took
echoing through this vast maze of nature
confusion stained my mind like pen ink
I then noticed the silhouette of a mysterious figure in the distance
it beckoned me to come closer
I started running
nothing could stop me from reaching my target
but with every inch I sprinted, his image would fade
I started to scream obscenities
wrought with anger and adrenaline
the mere thought of not being able to see who that shadow was
angered me deep inside
I kept running till I reached a red door
what lay beyond it was an enigma to me
I reached out to turn the handle struggling to open it
but it was locked
I reached in my pocket
and I pulled out an archaic skeleton key
'this must be it'
I inserted the vintage lock pick and turned
what lie behind the door shattered my soul and left me delirious.....
