Take a Bow

I stand on a stage, all lights on me.
I hear laughter from the people I cannot see.
I grab the mike and the music sounds.
I close my eyes, calm myself down.
I sing about a story, one sad but true.
A girl and a love, a life that I once knew.
I sing over the noise and sing out of the room.
I sing to the stars and halfway to the moon.
But then the music stops and the noise fades,
I open my eyes and look around at the stage.
There's no lights, no one to laugh, it's all over now.
So I set down the mike and take a bow.
