At the Stars

Quiet your crying dear,
And dry those tears from your eyes.
Stand up from the ground you’ve landed on.
Learn to dust yourself off and fly.
Why would you look upon the dark side
When there’s a bright side of it, too?
Why tear your heart up even more,
Why chain your happiness to closed doors,
When there’s so much more for you?
And I know I can’t speak from experience,
Because I know I’m not one to smile.
But I promise if you look around,
You’ll find something worth your while.
And for now I’ve chained my heart and soul,
and I’ve thrown away the key.
But someday I’ll untie the ropes that bind
And I will too break free.
And when I do I’ll stand up from the ground.
I’ll shake off the dirt and look around,
Maybe I’ll find a hand to have and hold.
A love story yet to be told.
But for now, I’m stuck, but dear, you’re not.
So find the will that I’ve forgot,
Take a chance and let it take you far.
Dear I know we’re in the gutter,
but always look up at the stars.
