A Letter to You

The pen and paper crash against one another, failing to truly express the thoughts I wish to convey
How can one letter hold my affections for you adequately?
Yet I try because this is all we have, daily correspondence
I have a pile of unsent letters and unreceived thoughts
I have envelopes filled with yellowing pages and tarnished, abandoned dreams
They all remain, still, in the top draw of my dresser locked away
Awaiting the day I meet you, the day I meet my love
