The Cold Land

We live in the place where reciprocity comes to die
Where inequalities flare and tear down these four walls
There is nothing in this place, at least to the naked eye
But you and I see much more, a hallway with the echo of answered calls
A place where time yields its wisdom and heartache rules as King
This is the place that I call us, the place of you and me
It is the place of hurtful words and their unending sting
It is the place of haunting silences, doors with without a key
We can’t seem to escape this place that is tearing up apart
It slowly closes in its walls, leaving us in the growing dark
It eats away at our lining and the tissue of our heart
Chewing away at what remaining slowly, like a hungry shark
I know what this place it, and what it will never be
So I have decided to leave you, in the land that lacks all I need
The bad romance is a killer, one that can keep me as its abductee
So I rip out of these walls and finally am freed

A place I think we may all have been at once.
