The Hereafter

Take my hand and lead me to the other side,
And make the anguish of passing fade or hide.
Guide me through the turmoil and grief,
Show me death was not merely a thief.

Keep my faith and hopes up high,
Speak the truth; don't utter a single lie.
Fill my mind with my family's sweet laughter,
And hold me closer as we cross into the hereafter.

I dedicate this poem to a close family friend who sadly passed away suddenly last week and whose funeral was today. Rest in peace. X
